The couple formed by Kitéria Silva, 30, and Adriano Jack won the 24th edition of the Pé de Aço contest. They danced forró uninterrupted for 38 hours and 4 minutes during the São João festival in Colônia Leopoldina, in the interior of Alagoas.
The event took place on Friday, June 19. Twenty couples took part in the competition. The previous record was 33 consecutive hours.
Alex and Maze placed second with 38 hours and 3 minutes. Elania and Jéssica finished third with 35 hours and 4 minutes. The winning pair received the main prize of more than 20 thousand reais.
Participants could take breaks of up to five minutes to use the bathroom, but the partner had to keep dancing alone. Hydration and food occurred on the dance floor.
