The president of the Cpmi of Inss, senator Carlos Viana, met with Supreme Court minister André Mendonça to advocate for reviewing decisions that blocked depositions, including that of banker Daniel Vorcaro. Mendonça indicated he will release the appeals for collegiate judgment. Viana also criticized the decision allowing Leila Pereira to cancel her deposition.
The president of the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (Cpmi) of the Inss, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), met on this Wednesday (11) with Supreme Court minister André Mendonça to advocate for reviewing judicial decisions that blocked depositions from investigated parties and witnesses in the commission, including banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master.
According to Viana, Mendonça stated that he will release the appeals presented by the Cpmi for collegiate judgment, allowing Vorcaro and other accused to testify. Last month, the minister had made the banker's deposition optional.
“For us, [Vorcaro's] attendance at the Cpi is a matter of honor. He will go to the Cpmi and be treated as a normal person, common, like all the others were, with statements to be given,” the senator stated.
Vorcaro was summoned to explain the alleged involvement of Banco Master with entrepreneurs in illegal payroll deductions for Inss retirees and pensioners.
In an interview after the meeting, Viana criticized the decision by minister Flávio Dino, which authorized the president of Palmeiras and Crefisa, Leila Pereira, to cancel the deposition scheduled for this Thursday (12). Backed by the decision, Leila informed that she will not attend the Cpmi tomorrow, but a new deposition was scheduled for next Wednesday (18).
“It is yet another decision that shows the invasion of prerogatives, the disrespect to our work, because coming to the National Congress is more important than a personal agenda. The minister orders us to schedule a new date for a witness. We need, in Congress, to take a position,” Viana commented.
The senator also denied that the commission is responsible for the leak of Vorcaro's banking, fiscal, and telematic secrecy data. Last week, Mendonça ordered the Federal Police to open an inquiry into the case.
“The Cpi has no official responsibility, because we do not have most of the documents that were leaked. We have the functional responsibility to safeguard everything that has been given to us,” he stated.
