DC Studios hires Christina Hodson for Batman movie The Brave and the Bold

DC Studios has appointed screenwriter Christina Hodson to write its upcoming Batman film, The Brave and the Bold. The project reunites her with director Andy Muschietti from The Flash. The movie will introduce Damian Wayne as Robin in the DC Universe.

DC Studios announced on January 21, 2026, that Christina Hodson will pen the script for The Brave and the Bold, a new live-action Batman movie. Hodson, known for her work on Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), The Flash, Bumblebee, and the unproduced Batgirl, brings experience in DC projects to the film. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the hiring, noting that Hodson has been developing the script since the fall, though a significant draft will take additional time.

The story centers on Batman, played by an undisclosed actor, and his son Damian Wayne as Robin. Damian, the child of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, is a trained assassin from the League of Assassins who chooses to live with his father to learn detective skills and moral values. This marks the first live-action portrayal of Damian Wayne in the DC Universe.

Andy Muschietti remains attached to direct, despite his commitments to the Welcome to Derry series, a prequel to HBO's It. Previously, Muschietti was set to develop and helm the project, but finding a writer had been challenging. Sources indicate no rush in production, especially with Matt Reeves's The Batman Part II also in development in a separate universe.

This measured approach allows DC Studios to avoid overlapping Batman films while building its rebooted lineup under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Hvad folk siger

X discussions on Christina Hodson's hiring to write DC Studios' Batman: The Brave and the Bold show polarized sentiments. Many fans express skepticism and negativity citing her work on underperforming films like The Flash and Birds of Prey, while others defend her citing successes like Bumblebee and optimism for the father-son dynamic with Damian Wayne. High-engagement posts highlight concerns over DC's choices, with some neutral reports from news accounts.
