The Economic Freedom Fighters held its 2026 local government manifesto launch in Thohoyandou. Party leader Julius Malema told supporters that real freedom requires functioning municipalities. Analyst Levy Ndou said the EFF has identified key challenges but must demonstrate it can deliver solutions.
The event marked the party's 13th anniversary. Malema pledged to improve refuse collection, insource municipal workers and strengthen service delivery if the EFF wins local elections.
Dr Levy Ndou described the manifesto as an effort to convince voters the party can address municipal failures. He noted that the EFF has experience in some municipalities and has developed a plan for the issues it has identified.
Ndou added that the party highlighted problems not yet resolved and aims to show it has concrete steps to fix them. The launch took place on 25 July 2026 in Limpopo.
