Egypt discusses expanding SAP investments and digital skills programs

Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindy, met on Sunday with Augusta Spinelli, SAP's Regional President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, to discuss expanding the company's investments in Egypt and scaling up outsourcing operations. The talks explored deeper cooperation in cloud computing, support for Egypt's digital sovereignty, introduction of advanced AI capabilities, and training programs for Egyptian youth.

The parties explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in cloud computing services, while supporting Egypt's digital sovereignty through safeguarding data and applications on SAP's cloud platforms. They also addressed introducing advanced artificial intelligence-driven capabilities to the local market and developing digital capacities via specialised training programs to equip Egyptian youth with skills aligned to SAP solutions for the global labour market.

Both sides reviewed the potential for a comprehensive study assessing labour market needs in technology fields linked to SAP systems. Hindy reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to bolstering the competitiveness of Egypt's ICT sector regionally and globally, highlighting efforts to foster a business environment attractive to multinational firms and boost digital services exports.

Spinelli stated that SAP values its long-standing partnership with the ministry and is committed to supporting digital skills development and local technology ecosystems. "Through joint innovation-driven initiatives, the company aims to contribute to Egypt’s efforts to strengthen its technological capabilities in what it views as a strategic and promising market," she said.

Ahmed Samy emphasised SAP's appreciation for the close collaboration and plans to expand youth empowerment efforts by investing in skills development for the evolving digital economy. The talks underscore Egypt's strategy to advance its digital economy and position itself as a regional hub for technology and outsourcing.
