Elijah Wood, known for playing Frodo Baggins, will perform a DJ set with Wooden Wisdom at a Lord of the Rings-themed rave. The one-night event is set for May 31 at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom. Costumes are encouraged for attendees.
Elijah Wood is scheduled to host a DJ set as part of Wooden Wisdom at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver on May 31. The event is described as a “full-blown Lord of the Rings rave experience” with “carefully curated vinyl selections” featuring 70s and 80s disco alongside rare gems. Organizers encourage costumes, stating: “Costumes are encouraged, so dust off your cloaks, and sharpen your elvish ears.” Whether you are a devoted LOTR fan or simply a lover of great music and great vibes, Wooden Wisdom will transport you to Middle Earth and back.” Tickets are already sold out; more details are available via the event page. This follows Wood’s headlining appearance at Fan Expo Denver, celebrating 25 years of the Lord of the Rings films. Wood portrayed Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy and reprised the role in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. He is rumoured to reprise it in the upcoming The Hunt for Gollum, set for Christmas 2027, directed by Andy Serkis, who will also play Gollum. Original writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are returning with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou; Jackson produces. Wood co-founded Wooden Wisdom with Zach Cowie 15 years ago. In a past interview with Stephen Colbert, they described their sets: “play everything from stuff from the ’70s through to the ’90s, a lot of international stuff, African, Turkish, [but] we do not play hits.” Wood has repeatedly clarified he is not “DJ Frodo,” calling rumours “unequivocally false” on Seth Meyers’ show nearly 10 years ago. He launched Simian Records in 2005, signing acts like The Apples in Stereo and Heloise & The Savoir Faire, and appeared in videos for The Cranberries, Beastie Boys, and Danko Jones. Orlando Bloom has similarly expressed reluctance for recasting Legolas, while Viggo Mortensen will not return as Aragorn.
