Ethiopia and Nigeria have signed an agreement to exchange prisoners. The foreign ministers of both countries met in Addis Ababa to discuss the matter along with other bilateral issues.
Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos met with Nigerian Foreign Minister Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu in Addis Ababa. The two sides discussed bilateral relations that date back to the 1960s and ways to strengthen them further.
Ethiopian Justice Minister Hanna Araya-Selassie and Nigerian Attorney General and Justice Minister Lateef Olusunkanmi Fagbemi signed the prisoner exchange agreement. The deal is expected to create a legal framework that supports joint work between the justice institutions of both countries.
The Foreign Ministry stated that the meeting and the signed agreement will enhance the partnership and cooperation between Ethiopia and Nigeria.
