Everton edges Bournemouth 1-0 with late Grealish winner

Jack Grealish's late deflected goal secured a 1-0 victory for Everton over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday. The win ended Bournemouth's unbeaten home record and marked Everton's third victory in their last four matches. Bournemouth slipped to 14th place, while Everton climbed to ninth.

The Premier League match at Vitality Stadium saw Everton triumph 1-0 against Bournemouth on December 2, 2025. Despite facing pressure for much of the game, Everton capitalized on a counter-attack in the second half. Jack Grealish led the break, cut inside, and fired a shot that deflected off Bournemouth defender Bafode Diakite into the net, breaking Bournemouth's five-game winless streak.

Bournemouth had the better chances early on. Antoine Semenyo's first-half effort, following a deep cross, was stopped by a strong save from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Everton's Thierno Barry came close, heading against the woodwork as he continues his wait for a goal.

Team news highlighted injury challenges. Bournemouth, managed by Andoni Iraola, made four changes due to bans for Marcos Senesi, David Brooks, and Lewis Cook, plus injuries to Ryan Christie and Ben Gannon-Doak. Iraola noted, “In December and January we will need everyone... Every player needs to be available and ready to go.” Their lineup featured Djordje Petrovic in goal, with Veljko Milosavljevic starting in defense.

Everton, under David Moyes, made one alteration, inserting Carlos Alcaraz for Michael Keane. Absences included Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring), Nathan Patterson (foot and groin), and Seamus Coleman (hamstring). Moyes commented, “We went into the Newcastle game carrying a couple of boys with injuries... But there are no excuses from that point of view.” Jordan Pickford starred in goal, with Grealish and Barry up front.

Statistically, Bournemouth had won their last three home games against Everton but couldn't extend it. Everton, who have struggled historically at the venue (four straight losses), now boast 24 away points under Moyes—second only to Arsenal. The Toffees host Nottingham Forest next, aiming to build momentum.
