A couple and their six-month-old son were freed by authorities following an extortion kidnapping in Neiva. The events took place on May 28.
The family was contacted with a job offer to manage a farm in the El Caguán corregimiento. Four individuals intercepted them upon arrival and took them to a remote location.
The kidnappers demanded five million pesos for their release. They posed as Farc members and threatened to harm the victims, including the infant.
Following a timely report, GAULA Militar and CTI personnel located the site and carried out a rescue operation. The criminals fled and abandoned the family, who were found unharmed.
