TriStar Pictures has moved the release date of "The Nightingale," starring Dakota and Elle Fanning, from February 12 to March 19, 2027.
The shift allows the World War II drama to align with the Easter weekend on March 28 and college spring breaks. It will also serve as counter-programming to Paramount's "Sonic the Hedgehog 4," which opens the same day.
The film marks the first feature starring the sisters together. It is currently in production and adapts Kristin Hannah's novel about two sisters fighting for survival in German-occupied France.
Michael Morris directs from a screenplay by Dana Stevens. Producers include Elizabeth Cantillon, the Fannings, Brittany Kahane Ward, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter.
The news follows recent Emmy nominations for both actresses. The book has sold one million copies so far this year.
