The Colombian Cycling Federation confirmed that the Clásica Futuras Estrellas will take place in the Huila department from May 1 to 3. The event, organized by Club Deportivo Futuras Estrellas, expects to gather more than 500 athletes from various departments in the country. Huila will participate with 28 athletes.
The Colombian Cycling Federation announced through a statement that the Clásica Futuras Estrellas will be held in the Huila department from May 1 to 3. This event, endorsed by the Huila Cycling League, is one of the most important in the region and aims to promote cycling among youth and adults.
Club Deportivo Futuras Estrellas is the main organizer, expecting around 500 athletes from different departments. “Huila will participate with 28 athletes,” stated Jaime Acevedo, president of the Huila Cycling League.
The competition will include several categories: pre-infantil male for boys aged 11 to 12, infantil female for girls aged 11 to 14, infantil male for boys aged 13 to 14, pre-juvenil male for 15 to 16, juvenil male for 17 to 18, damas junior for 15 to 18, and libre male for over 19.
The stages are planned as follows: the first, on May 1, will be a time trial climb of more than five kilometers in the urban area of Rivera. The third stage, on May 3, will consist of a circuit through the center of Neiva, specifically along Carrera Séptima. For the second stage, it is expected to be held in Playa Juncal, though it still awaits confirmation from Invías. “We are awaiting formal response from Invías; it's the only detail left,” Acevedo noted.
Teams from departments such as Sucre, Magdalena, Santander, Norte de Santander, Casanare, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Bogotá, Quindío, Risaralda, Manizales, Valle, Antioquia, Nariño, Putumayo, Caquetá, and Huila have been confirmed. Acevedo hopes it will be a great race for cycling fans.
