Former WWE wrestler Santos Escobar has revealed his new ring name as Romeo Malverde following the expiration of his 90-day non-compete clause. The announcement came via social media on Friday.
Escobar posted a black-and-white vignette on X on July 24 showing him praying over a casket before walking out of frame. The video ended with the text "Hasta Siempre S.E." and credited his real name, JB Bolly, along with his prior ring name El Hijo del Fantasma.
In the accompanying message, he wrote: "Renovation through expiration. Hasta siempre emperador Santos. BIENVENIDO ROMEO MALVERDE." The post marked his official transition to free agency after his release from WWE on April 24.
Escobar had re-signed with WWE in October following a brief period as a free agent but did not appear on main roster programming. His final match occurred in the Rey de Reyes final four-way in March for WWE-owned AAA.
