FX renews Alien: Earth for second season

FX has renewed the sci-fi series Alien: Earth for a second season as part of a new overall deal with creator Noah Hawley. The show, an extension of the Alien film franchise, stars Sydney Chandler as a human-robot hybrid fighting deadly aliens on Earth. Season 2 filming will begin in London next year.

Renewal Announcement

FX announced the renewal of Alien: Earth for Season 2, confirming continued adventures with xenomorphs and other alien threats. The decision comes alongside a new overall deal for series creator Noah Hawley, who has collaborated with FX for over a decade on acclaimed shows. FX chairman John Landgraf praised Hawley's creativity in a statement: "It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX's best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future. Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories — and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary. We can't wait to get to work on the next season of 'Alien: Earth,' as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development."

Series Background

Alien: Earth follows Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler, a human-robot hybrid who aids humanity after a spaceship crash unleashes xenomorphs and other lethal alien species on Earth. Season 1 concluded in September with Wendy and her hybrid allies gaining freedom from tech trillionaire Boy Kavalier, who created them. Prior to the renewal, Hawley shared his vision for potential future episodes with TVLine: "If Season 1 was about the initial levels of alien containment being broken, then Season 2 feels like it's about, well, what's next, right? The island can't contain them anymore. What's next? There are too many wild cards, too many moving pieces, Yutani is landing... so it's an expansion in scope, which I think is important."

The series streams on Hulu and represents an expansion of the iconic Alien franchise into television.
