Gachagua warns Duale over comments on Uhuru

Democracy for Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has warned Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale against commenting on former President Uhuru Kenyatta. The rebuke followed Duale's attacks on Uhuru on Saturday. Gachagua defended Uhuru during a church service in Murang'a County.

Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), spoke during a church service at ACK Sr Mark Maragua Church in Murang'a County. He criticised Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale for remarks disrespecting former President Uhuru Kenyatta made on April 18.

Gachagua defended Uhuru, stating he never paid parliamentarians to impeach William Ruto as deputy president. "President Uhuru Kenyatta never paid members of Parliament to impeach William Ruto as Deputy President," Gachagua said, referencing his own impeachment in late 2024. He added that Uhuru never sent goons or police against Ruto and allowed him free movement across the country, including frequent Mt Kenya visits.

Duale had accused Uhuru of undermining Ruto's administration and building alliances ahead of the 2027 elections. He told Uhuru to "go home and rest," claiming Uhuru humiliated Ruto and attempted his impeachment in 2019, which failed.

Gachagua also warned that the Social Health Authority (SHA) faces collapse within five months, with liabilities of Ksh98 billion. He described it as a "walking zombie" and alleged a Dubai-based firm linked to Duale receives Ksh600 million monthly amid mounting debts.
