Police in Garut, West Java, advise road users to avoid the alternative Kamojang, Cijapati, and Cisewu routes during the year-end holidays due to hazardous conditions. These paths connect Bandung and Garut districts with numerous sharp turns and steep inclines. They recommend sticking to the main route, which is safer and under special monitoring.
On Saturday, December 27, 2025, the Head of Traffic Unit at Garut Police Resort, Iptu Aang Andi Suhandi, issued a safety alert for motorists during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. As part of Operation Lilin Lodaya 2025, police urge vehicles to steer clear of alternative routes linking Bandung and Garut districts.
"It is recommended to take the main route. For this holiday, we advise against using the alternative paths of Kamojang, Cijapati, or Cisewu," stated Iptu Suhandi during security operations in Garut.
These routes include Cijapati in Kadungora Subdistrict, Kamojang in Samarang Subdistrict, and Cisewu in southern Garut. The roads feature sharp bends, steep ascents, and steep descents, requiring heightened caution and well-maintained vehicles. Unpredictable weather further raises the risk of landslides or other incidents.
"Avoid these alternative routes because the weather is uncertain; we fear there might be landslides or other events," he added.
Authorities promote the main Bandung-Garut road, which benefits from dedicated security along its length. In case of congestion, teams will promptly clear traffic to restore normal flow. Iptu Suhandi also advises travelers to check their health and ensure two- or four-wheeled vehicles are roadworthy before setting out. All officers are prepared to uphold comfort and safety during the operation, including compliance with traffic signs and officer instructions.
