Government plans to build 30 livestock feed factories worth Rp 20 trillion

President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting with ministers at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on November 20, 2025. Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman reported plans to build 30 livestock feed factories with a Rp 20 trillion budget to support small farmers. Additionally, Amran stated Indonesia will achieve food self-sufficiency by the end of December 2025.

In a limited meeting at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto heard a report from Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman on plans to build livestock feed factories. Amran stated the government will construct factories at 30 locations with a total budget of Rp 20 trillion. The first phase includes 12 factories at 12 sites, while the second phase will build another 18.

"We will build, first is 12, in 12 regions, feed factories, then the second phase is 18 points. The budget is Rp 20 trillion," said Amran. The construction aims to support the upstream ecosystem of people's livestock farming, particularly to maintain stable prices for feed, vaccines, and medicines for 3.7 million farmers across Indonesia. Amran emphasized that these factories are for small farmers. "Once again, this is built for small farmers. So this is built for small farmers, to support, to support small farmers," he concluded.

The government will also prepare Cost of Goods Sold (HPP) and Highest Retail Price (HET) for livestock feed, eggs, and other animal products to prevent significant price fluctuations. "We prepare HPP (Cost of Goods Sold), HPP must be maintained well. Sales price, cost of goods sold, livestock, also eggs, then there will be HET (Highest Retail Price) for feed. So prices won't fluctuate much," said Amran.

Besides livestock issues, Amran reported on food production developments, especially rice. He predicted Indonesia will achieve food self-sufficiency on December 31, 2025, at 12:00. "We report on food developments specifically for rice, our food specifically rice. Insyaallah, insyaallah on December 31 at 12:00. If no obstacles, more than 30 days, 40 days ahead Indonesia achieves food self-sufficiency," he said. This achievement is faster than the initial four-year target, thanks to President Prabowo's directives. Initially targeted at four years, then after 21 days it became three years, and after 45 days one year, supported by strong regulations and financing.
