Greenwich Entertainment acquires 'The Scout' after Tribeca premiere

Greenwich Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to 'The Scout,' the directorial debut of Paula González-Nasser. The film premiered at the Tribeca Festival and will receive a theatrical release later this year. It follows a location scout navigating New York City challenges.

Greenwich Entertainment announced the acquisition of worldwide rights to “The Scout,” a drama marking the directorial debut of Paula González-Nasser, who also penned the script. The film had its world premiere in the U.S. Narrative Competition section at the Tribeca Festival. Greenwich plans to release it in theaters across the country later this year.

“The Scout” centers on a location scout portrayed by Mimi Davila, depicting her experiences over one day as she interacts with New York City residents while securing shooting locations for a TV show. The cast includes Rutanya Alda, Otmara Marrero, Max Rosen, Sarah Herrman, Ikechukwu Ufomadu, and Matt Barats. Critics have praised the film, with the AV Club describing it as a “charming, awkward, funny debut.”

Since its Tribeca premiere, “The Scout” has screened at additional festivals, including the Mill Valley Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, and American Film Festival in Poland.

González-Nasser expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are honored to be partnering with Greenwich, whom we have long admired for their dedication to theatrical-forward distribution, on the release of my directorial debut. I am personally so grateful for Greenwich’s continued support and championing of truly independent cinema, and we’re beyond stoked that audiences will get to experience The Scout in theaters and beyond.”

The production team consists of producers González-Nasser, Ryan Martin Brown, and Matthew Romanski, with executive producers Jess Zeidman, Sarah Herrman, Hannah Kettering, and Roger Mancusi. The deal was negotiated by Greenwich’s Jasper Basch and Cinetic’s Zach Magid on behalf of the filmmakers.

Greenwich Entertainment has a track record with independent films, including previous releases such as “Free Solo,” “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” and “Coup!”
