A video of Erling Haaland teaching the pronunciation of his name went viral on social media in Brazil ahead of the match against Norway.
Norway will face Brazil in the round of 16 of the World Cup on Sunday, the 5th. The video released by the Norwegians shows Haaland pronouncing his name as “Ér-ling Rô-land”.
Many Brazilians associated the sound with a well-known word in Portuguese. The material was shared by the Central da Noruega account on June 12, 2026 and sparked comments on social media.
Haaland has already faced Brazilian defenders such as Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhães in Champions League matches. The duels include wins for PSG and Arsenal in some encounters.
