England captain Harry Kane believes leading his country to World Cup glory this summer would place him among the frontrunners for the Ballon d'Or.

In an interview with L'Équipe, he said a World Cup triumph would strengthen his case but added that he lets performances speak for themselves rather than claiming the award. England have gathered in Florida under new coach Thomas Tuchel for pre-tournament training. Kane, who previously worked with Tuchel at Bayern, praised the German’s methods. The team last won a major trophy in 1966 and has reached several recent finals without success. Kane said the ambition remains to win the World Cup despite the pressure.
