Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini criticized the Trinamool Congress-led government in West Bengal for allegedly targeting the Hindu community and engaging in discriminatory politics. He made these remarks while highlighting contrasts with central government welfare schemes. The comments came after he released funds under a state women's initiative in Chandigarh.
On December 3, 2025, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini addressed the media in Chandigarh following the release of the second installment of benefits under the state's Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, a program aimed at supporting eligible women.
Saini accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) administration of prioritizing appeasement of a specific community for electoral gains, at the expense of the broader population. "West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government is focused on appeasing a particular section, while the general public, especially women continues to face harassment and exploitation," he stated.
He further claimed that the Hindu community in West Bengal was being targeted through discriminatory practices, calling it an unfortunate development. "The Hindu community is being targeted in West Bengal and it is unfortunate. This should not happen. Instead of fulfilling her constitutional responsibilities, Mamata Banerjee is indulging in discriminatory politics," Saini added.
Saini alleged that the state's social fabric had been undermined by accommodating outsiders, leading to opposition against initiatives like Special Investment Regions (SIR). Despite Banerjee being a female chief minister, he pointed out the deteriorating conditions for women in West Bengal.
In contrast, Saini praised the central government's schemes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, designed for the welfare of 140 crore Indians. These efforts, he said, focus on simplifying lives and ensuring direct benefit transfers, unlike the Bengal government's approach of catering to a limited section of society.
