Cinema box office takings in Hong Kong over the first four days of the Easter break—Good Friday to Monday—reached HK$25.93 million (US$3.31 million), more than double the HK$12.75 million from the same period in 2025, despite a holiday exodus.

The Immigration Department reported around 2.13 million outbound trips and 1.81 million inbound trips by residents during those four days, resulting in a net outflow of 319,173. Over the five-day break to Tuesday, there were 2.56 million inbound and 2.37 million outbound trips, for a net inflow of 193,136. In total, 6.27 million inbound and outbound passenger trips were recorded, slightly below the department's projection of 6.44 million.

"[A few] critically acclaimed films attracted families to go to cinemas, which we hope can stimulate the market and drive box office growth," said Hong Kong Box Office Limited, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association and the Hong Kong Theatres Association. This year's Easter holiday was one day longer than last year's and overlapped with China's three-day Ching Ming Festival from Saturday to Monday.

The highest-grossing film was the animated adventure comedy The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which earned HK$13.19 million over the four days and HK$20.43 million from April 1 to April 7. The sci-fi film Project Hail Mary and Disney and Pixar's Hoppers were also major draws.

Among Hong Kong films, the nightlife drama Night King starring Dayo Wong Tze-wah and Sammi Cheng Sau-man took in HK$1.54 million over the first four days and HK$107.2 million from its February 17 premiere to April 7. It was followed by the crime drama We’re Nothing at All and sci-fi comedy Ciao UFO.
