Indigenous House and Little Bear Audio are set to launch a new podcast series called The Indigenous Setlist. The series will feature conversations with Native and Indigenous artists starting June 22. It aims to highlight their contributions to contemporary music.
The podcast launches on June 22 with an episode featuring duo The Halluci Nation, who represent the Six Nations of the Grand River (Mohawk) and Cayuga Nations. Subsequent weekly episodes will include country reggae artist Maoli, punk rock band Dead Pioneers, alt-rock and soul artist Aysanabee, and others through early September. Crystal Echo Hawk, founder of Indigenous House, said the artists featured in Season One are scoring popular series, signing to major labels, and headlining festivals. She added that they are blending personal stories with new sounds to reshape the modern music landscape. Ehren Thomas of The Halluci Nation noted in the trailer that talent in the Native community has always been present rather than experiencing a sudden explosion. Ian Sorrentino of Little Bear Audio said the series will show that contemporary Indigenous music belongs in every playlist, soundtrack, and stage.
