Intel beats earnings expectations on AI data center growth

Intel reported stronger-than-expected quarterly results driven by growth in its data center and AI segments. The company saw total revenue reach $16.1 billion, up 25 percent from a year earlier.

The data center and AI business grew 59 percent year-on-year to $6.2 billion in revenue. The foundry unit posted a 30 percent increase, though most of that activity remained internal.

Intel forecast revenue between $15.8 billion and $16.8 billion for the next period, above the average analyst range of $15.1 billion. The company recently became the first chipmaker to deploy ASML’s High-NA EUV technology in its factories for Panther Lake chips.

Confirmed foundry customers include AWS, Microsoft, and the US Department of Defense. Tesla, Broadcom, and NVIDIA are in testing and evaluation. Apple is also in discussions about shifting some US production to Intel, while NVIDIA has invested $5 billion in the company.
