Institut Teknologi Perkebunan Pelalawan Indonesia held its third scientific meeting on July 8, 2026, in Pelalawan, Riau, to discuss downstream processing and technological innovation in the palm oil sector.
The forum carried the theme Advancing the Palm Oil Industry: Smart and Sustainable Technologies for Downstream Innovation and Industrial Challenges. It was attended by ITP2I Rector Prof. Tengku Dahril and local government representative Mayhendri.
Prof. Tengku Dahril said ITP2I has graduated 192 alumni and currently has 628 students. He aims for all lecturers to hold doctoral qualifications to support plantation industry research.
Mayhendri stressed the importance of downstream processing to increase added value of palm oil products and the adoption of technologies such as AI and IoT. He also cited stakeholder synergy as key to industry sustainability.
Participants discussed issues including ISPO certification, product traceability, and the role of BPDP in funding research and replanting programs.
