Joel Hoekstra’s 13 releases video for single 'You Can Give'

Guitarist Joel Hoekstra, known for his work with Whitesnake and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, has unveiled a new video for the single “You Can Give” from his project Joel Hoekstra’s 13. The track previews the upcoming fourth album, 'From The Fade', set for release on February 27, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl. Featuring an ensemble of rock veterans, the album blends melodic hard rock with heavier riffs.

Joel Hoekstra’s 13, the solo project of the New York-based guitarist, has launched the official video for “You Can Give,” the lead single from their fourth studio album, 'From The Fade.' Scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, through Frontiers Music Srl, the album comprises 10 tracks that emphasize Hoekstra’s riff-driven songwriting, drawing from his time filling in with Accept.

Hoekstra describes the single as “a heavy, riff-driven track” that, despite some metal-like riffs, remains firmly in the melodic hard rock category. He praises the contributions of his collaborators: drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio), bassist Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder), keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Sons of Apollo), vocalist Girish Pradhan (Girish and The Chronicles), and backing vocalist Jeff Scott Soto. “Vinny Appice and Tony Franklin do an amazing job laying out a strong, creative foundation,” Hoekstra notes. “Girish Pradhan delivers a powerful, emotional vocal performance while Derek Sherinian and Jeff Scott Soto provide the perfect complimentary parts on keys and backing vocals respectively.” Lyrically, the song explores the downsides of a relentless work ethic in music, personified through music speaking to the artist.

The album 'From The Fade' promises a mix of classic hard rock and modern melodic metal, with tight arrangements and emotionally charged performances. Hoekstra explains, “The songs were built from the guitar riffs up... there is a heavier edge to this album overall,” but stresses it is “more accurately described as melodic hard rock, not straight-up metal.” He adds, “As always... I wrote the style of music that inspired me to pick up the guitar and tried to focus on SONGS for you to enjoy, not overly self-indulgent guitar solos.”

The tracklist includes: 1. You Can Give, 2. The Fall, 3. Lifeline, 4. Will You Remember Me, 5. Misunderstood, 6. Start to Fight, 7. All I’d Do, 8. Free To Be, 9. The End Of Me, 10. Quite The Ride.

Hoekstra’s extensive career spans stints with Whitesnake, Cher, Night Ranger, and projects like Revolution Saints, alongside educational roles and appearances on shows such as Dancing with the Stars.
