Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu praised delegates from the city to China’s top political advisory body on Wednesday as he hosted Jiang Zuojun, vice-chairman of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), at Government House.

Lee described the delegates as a “steadfast patriotic force,” noting they form a gathering of elites and leaders from various sectors with a deep understanding of mainland China and Hong Kong affairs. “They have made important contributions to the nation’s legal development and Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability,” he wrote on social media.

The meeting occurred less than two months before the fourth annual sessions of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and the 14th National People’s Congress, set to begin on March 4 and 5, respectively.

Lee said his administration has established a regular communication mechanism with the delegates, who actively offer advice and share positive stories about the mainland and Hong Kong. They have fully leveraged their influence in implementing the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong.”

The chief executive added that the government would continue to enhance communication with the delegates to gather patriotic forces and pursue development.
