Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Kany García released her 10th studio album, Puerta Abierta, on April 9 under 502 Records. The 11-track set explores themes of identity, resilience, and self-discovery through conversations with her inner child, featuring collaborations with artists like Juan Luis Guerra and Nathy Peluso. García shared insights into five key tracks in an interview with Billboard Español.
Kany García created Puerta Abierta by revisiting her mother's home in Morovis, Puerto Rico, to connect with her roots and inner child. After her 2024 album García won a Latin Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album, she conceptualized this project first, incorporating Puerto Rican, Caribbean, and other native instruments. Singles 'Tierra Mía' and 'La Mala Era Yo,' featuring Yuridia, preceded the release, which also includes tracks with Juan Luis Guerra on 'Amor Bonito,' Rawayana on 'La Culpa,' and Nathy Peluso on 'Gatita.'
