Keke Palmer opened up about the emotional toll her Hollywood success took on her relatives during a Tribeca Festival appearance. The actress described a period when fame left everyone in her orbit struggling to connect.
Speaking alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Palmer recalled that her family could not relate to her experiences as the star. She noted they endured "the trauma of the fame" from the sidelines while she navigated the spotlight directly.
The 32-year-old explained the disconnect deepened because relatives were still processing their own "crazy experience" tied to her career. Palmer added she felt profound sadness that manifested as numbness rather than physical pain.
Her parents and siblings had relocated from Illinois to Los Angeles to support her early work in projects like Akeelah and the Bee. She now lives in LA with her sisters and son Leodis.
