Larry Birkhead is not here for the upcoming Anna Nicole Smith biopic. The late model's baby daddy unloaded on the project and its focus on her doctor in a fiery Entertainment Tonight interview. He made it clear his family wants zero part of it.
Birkhead stated, "We don't condone this, we're not involved in this production." He objects to any use of his and daughter Dannielynn's lives in the film about Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, who was acquitted of charges related to prescribing medication before Smith's death.
The dad says he confronted Kapoor years ago over media sharing that caused Dannielynn "emotional distress," and the doctor had promised to stay out of the spotlight. Birkhead feels Kapoor has been milking the story for nearly two decades and worries the movie makes doctors everywhere look bad, noting, "Nobody goes to a doctor thinking that when you leave, your life is going to be turned into a movie."
Abbie Cornish stars as Smith while Kal Penn plays Kapoor, who reportedly told Penn he is a fan. The film is scheduled for October 16.
So… will the family ever get a say, or is this drama just getting started?
