Lindsey Buckingham outlined his 2026 plans in a recent Instagram video, mentioning a nearly complete solo album, an upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary, and a potential collaboration with Stevie Nicks. He described a renewed connection with Nicks as something 'in the air.' The comments follow their reconciliation and the reissue of their 1973 album Buckingham Nicks.
Lindsey Buckingham shared details of his creative endeavors for 2026 during a video posted to his Instagram account. 'I am still very, very grounded in my creative life,' Buckingham said. He revealed that his new solo album, in development for the past couple of years, is just one song from completion. Additionally, a Fleetwood Mac documentary directed by Frank Marshall for Apple is slated for possible release this year. The film includes interviews with surviving core members Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie. 'Those are two very specific things that are waiting in the wings for this year,' Buckingham noted, referring to the album and documentary. Buckingham addressed his evolving relationship with Nicks, noting the reissue last year of their pre-Fleetwood Mac album Buckingham Nicks, which has fostered a resurgence in their connection. 'I think on a more general level, just the energy in terms of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale, that seems to be something that’s in the air,' he said. He added, 'And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet. But I believe with all my heart, it will translate to something good, and something wonderful, and something needed and something extremely appropriate.' This marks the first time Buckingham has publicly discussed a potential 2026 reunion. The pair recently collaborated on an episode of Song Exploder discussing their track 'Frozen Love.' While details remain unclear—whether a Buckingham Nicks project or full Fleetwood Mac effort—2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the band's album Rumours. Nicks previously stated in 2024 that she would not tour with Fleetwood Mac following Christine McVie's death.
