Linus Omark returns to Luleå Hockey for rest of season

Linus Omark is returning to Luleå Hockey after a brief stint in Switzerland. The forward, who left after winning the SM-guld in spring, has agreed to a contract for the remainder of the season. Omark joins the team on Monday following a convincing call from teammate Brian O’Neill.

Linus Omark's return to Luleå Hockey was confirmed on Sunday morning, ending weeks of speculation. After departing the club post their SM-guld victory in spring, Omark signed a short-term deal with Lugano in Switzerland. There, he recorded 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) over 15 matches, a performance that reignited his passion for the game.

Last week, Omark played a single match for his hometown club Övertorneå in Hockeytrean, where he tallied six points. The decisive moment came during a phone call from Brian O’Neill, a teammate Omark had previously recruited to Luleå. 'Brian rang me and said they needed a player and wanted me to come back,' Omark told Hockeynews. 'I felt I owed him this time.'

Luleå's general manager Thomas Fröberg welcomed the move, stating on the club's website: 'It feels great that we've agreed on a solution with Linus for the rest of the season. He still burns for playing hockey and will broaden our forward lineup, while we all know his elite skills.'

Omark, who decided on the return while in Skellefteå on Saturday evening, expressed enthusiasm: 'It feels great that I still have the drive to play at the highest level. It will be fun to meet the guys again and spend time together on and off the ice.' He emphasized the team's potential for another title run, saying, 'If I didn't feel there was a chance, I wouldn't have gotten involved. We have every opportunity for a strong spring.'

Omark's experience adds depth to Luleå's forward group as they aim to build momentum through the season.
