Man sentenced to nine years in prison for attempted murder of police officer

A man in his 30s has been sentenced to just over nine years in prison by Mora district court for attempted murder of a police officer in Orsa.

The sentence was handed down on 2 June 2026. The incident occurred in March during a police intervention in an apartment in Orsa after a fight.

The man opened the door slightly and stabbed a police officer in the face with a knife. The district court found there had been a concrete risk of death even though the injury was minor.

He is also convicted of gross illegal threats against a woman in the apartment as well as attacks and threats against officials. Damages exceeding 300 000 kronor must be paid to the affected officers.
