The Seattle Mariners routed the Toronto Blue Jays 11-0 on Saturday at T-Mobile Park. Randy Arozarena led the way with a second-inning grand slam.
Seattle scored 11 runs on 11 hits and three home runs. Arozarena finished with three hits including his ninth homer of the season. Dominick Canzone added a two-run shot in the fifth while Cal Raleigh hit a three-run homer in the sixth.
Logan Gilbert earned the win with 7 1/3 scoreless innings. He allowed one hit and struck out seven without issuing a walk. Manager Dan Wilson praised the offensive outburst after Seattle had scored just one run in its previous two games.
A crowd of 41,181 watched the game on the Fourth of July. Fans chanted “USA! USA! USA!” during the contest. Arozarena said the team expects better results ahead after the strong performance.
