The Toronto Marlies defeated the Cleveland Monsters 3-2 in Game 5 on Sunday to win their North Division finals series and reach the Eastern Conference Finals.
Easton Cowan scored the winning goal with 11.3 seconds left in regulation after Logan Shaw tied the game with 4:30 remaining. Vinni Lettieri had three points in the contest, including his sixth playoff goal in the first period. Artur Akhtyamov made 22 saves for the victory at Rocket Arena, where attendance was 12,090. Toronto trailed entering the third period but secured its third winner-take-all win of the postseason.
