Metro Boomin confirms Young Thug feature on A Futuristic Summa

Metro Boomin has announced that Young Thug will appear on his upcoming mixtape A Futuristic Summa, set for release on August 1. The producer shared the news on Instagram, highlighting their close collaboration. This marks Thug's second feature since his 2024 prison release.

On July 30, Metro Boomin revealed via Instagram that Young Thug would feature on his new mixtape, A Futuristic Summa, scheduled to drop on August 1. The post included a Pokémon-style card depicting Thug as a "genre-bending trailblazer who redefined the rules of rap from the heart of Atlanta," complete with a power stat of 8010 HP. Metro Boomin captioned it, "[You] know it’s no way possible I’m dropping without my real [brother]," and teased a nod to Thug's early days with I Came from Nothing.

This collaboration fits their history, including close work on the 2023 project UY SCUTI. For Young Thug, it's his second feature post-release from prison in 2024; his first was on Lil Baby's "Dum, Dumb, and Dumber" with Future in January, followed by "Money On Money" with Future in April.

A Futuristic Summa boasts a 23-track lineup blending Atlanta icons and rising stars, including Lil Baby, Future, Quavo, J Money, 2 Chainz, and Roscoe Dash, who previously linked with Metro for "Slide." Other contributors are YKNIECE, Gucci Mane, T.I., Waka Flocka Flame, and Travis Porter.

The mixtape is Metro Boomin's first solo effort since his 2024 joint albums with Future, WE DON'T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU. Reflecting on those, he told Wonderland, "I like to put them both in a playlist and shuffle whatever comes on, but I like the sequence of the first one better. I feel like it flows, but then there are a lot of songs I love on the second one too."

The project promises a generational mix of talent from Atlanta's rap scene.
