Michael Block shoots 66 in Champions Tour debut

Michael Block carded a six-under-par 66 in the opening round of the Dick’s Open on Friday, putting the 50-year-old in a tie for fifth place.

Block received a sponsor’s exemption for his first PGA Tour Champions event at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, N.Y. He recorded seven birdies and one bogey despite admitting to significant nerves.

“I’ve got all those haters out there which, you know, I love you guys,” Block said after the round. “I hope you guys like that 66.”

The former teaching pro turned 50 on June 16 and has played in 10 majors, most recently missing the cut at the 2026 Championship. He also qualified last week for the 2026 U.S. Senior Open.

Block is scheduled to tee off at 10:29 a.m. local time Saturday alongside Freddie Jacobson and Darren Clarke.
