No. 1 Auburn edges No. 3 Georgia 11-9 in equestrian regular-season finale

The top-ranked Auburn equestrian team secured a narrow 11-9 victory over No. 3 Georgia in a Southeastern Conference meet at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Georgia, on February 28, 2026. This win concluded Georgia's regular season, while Auburn improved to 8-2 overall and 3-2 in SEC play. Both teams showcased strong performances across fences, horsemanship, flat, and reining events.

The match took place at the UGA Equestrian Complex, marking Georgia's final regular-season outing. Auburn started strong in fences, winning 4-1 with victories from Kate Hagerty (81.5-78.5 over Liza Cram), Ariana Marnell (84.5-83 over Madison Nadolenco), Caroline Olsen (87-75.5 over Ella Witt, earning Most Outstanding Performer honors), and Avery Glynn (84.5-78.5 over Tessa P. Brown). Georgia's Tessa Downey countered with an 85.5-83 win over Emily Jurnovoy, tying her season-high.

In horsemanship, Georgia responded with a 3-2 edge. Kendall McClintock scored 73.5 to defeat Callie Hogg 73.5-72.5, followed by Abbey Zawisza (76-74 over Alexia Tordoff) and Lyla Bellar (75-74 over Sydney Swallom). Auburn's Caroline Fredenburg took MOP with a 76.25-76 decision over Ava Hathaway, and Brooke Jolstad won 75.25-73.25 against Alyvia Dixon.

The flat event saw Georgia tie it up at 3-2, led by Tessa P. Brown's MOP-winning 81.5-79.5 over Hagerty, Ella Duffy's 76.5-66.5 over Sadie Berkhout, and Kingsley Dey's 74-66 over Glynn. Auburn's Marnell (82.5-80 over Parker Cliff) and Olsen (84-78.5 over Maggie Bresch) secured points.

Reining proved decisive, with Auburn clinching 3-2 for the overall win. Callie Hogg started with 72-71 over Shelby Lynch, Sofia Tieche earned MOP with a career-high 72.25-71.25 over Avery Taylor, and Caroline Buchanan sealed it 70.75-69.75 over Kennedy Buchanan. Georgia's Cadence Eger (67.75-62.75 over Tordoff) and Raegan Shepherd (69.25-68 over Michelle Fumagalli) picked up points.

Georgia coach Meghan Boenig praised her team's resilience: "I really love the grit and the comeback of this team... I'm proud of this team and their grit and determination." Auburn coach Jessica Braswell highlighted the road victory: "Winning on the road is big for this sport... This was a great team win as we get closer to the postseason."

Auburn, with three MOP honors, next hosts No. 5 Texas A&M on March 7. Georgia heads to the SEC Championships in Auburn on March 27.
