O’Higgins created the main chances but could not beat Sao Paulo and drew 0-0 in Rancagua for the Copa Sudamericana. The Chilean side remains second in Group D with seven points.
The match played on May 7 at Estadio El Teniente ended without goals. O’Higgins controlled the ball and created more shots, but Martín Sarrafiore hit the crossbar at the 46th minute and Juan Leiva saw another effort strike the post at the 50th.
Sao Paulo had few clear chances. André Silva set up Gonzalo Tapia, but goalkeeper Omar Carabalí saved the effort at the 59th minute. The Brazilian side managed the draw in the closing stages.
With the result, O’Higgins has seven points and stays second in the group, one point behind Sao Paulo. The Rancagua side has two matches left, the first on May 20 in Uruguay.
