Ollamani announced a strategic alliance with investment firm General Atlantic to boost Club América, Estadio Banorte, and adjacent lands under the new entity Grupo Águilas. The deal values the group at 490 million dollars, with Ollamani retaining a 51% majority stake. Emilio Azcárraga Jean will serve as executive president of the new company.
Ollamani, controlled by Emilio Azcárraga Jean, disclosed the formation of Grupo Águilas through a statement to the Mexican Stock Exchange. This entity will group ownership of Club América, founded in 1916 with over 40 national and international titles, as well as Estadio Banorte and its adjacent lands. The stadium, located in Monterrey, will host the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is undergoing modernization to enhance fan experiences, expand hospitality areas, and incorporate advancements in technology and sustainability.
The alliance with General Atlantic, which has invested nearly 3 billion dollars in 14 Mexican companies since 2015, sets a valuation of 490 million dollars for Grupo Águilas, subject to customary closing adjustments. Ollamani will retain control with 51% of the shares, while General Atlantic takes 49%. Proceeds will be used to distribute value to Ollamani's shareholders, in line with legal requirements.
Emilio Azcárraga Jean, Ollamani's controlling shareholder, will serve as executive president of Grupo Águilas to ensure continuity of the strategic vision. “This new alliance positions us for the next phase of growth, as we expand our reach and provide unforgettable experiences for fans in Mexico and abroad,” Azcárraga stated.
Additionally, Kraft Analytics Group (KAGR) joins to implement analytics tools and strengthen fan engagement. Luis Cervantes, General Atlantic's managing director in Mexico, remarked: “The partnership will enable exploration of new growth opportunities in a dynamic market with significant international potential”.
The transaction's closing is pending approval from the National Antitrust Commission and Ollamani's shareholder assembly, which has already voiced support. The deal includes a multiyear naming rights contract with Banorte, bolstering the stadium's commercial platform. This union aims to position Club América and Estadio Banorte as global benchmarks in sports, entertainment, innovation, and sustainability.
