Óscar Antonio Gómez Sierra, alias ‘El Negro’, who killed a student in a Cuernavaca bar in 2017, was shot dead at a car wash in Tetela del Monte this Friday, shortly after regaining his freedom.
Óscar Antonio Gómez Sierra, known as ‘El Negro’, was shot dead at a car wash in Tetela del Monte, north of Cuernavaca, last Friday. Police sources confirmed he had just left Atlacholoaya prison after serving part of his sentence for qualified homicide.
The killing recalls the murder of 23-year-old UAEM student Israel Hernández, which took place in the early hours of September 29, 2017, at the Attico bar in Vista Hermosa neighborhood. Security cameras captured Gómez Sierra assaulting a woman, Hernández intervening to defend her, and the aggressor shooting him in the chest, kicking his body, and fleeing.
After fleeing, he was arrested in November 2017 in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, through an interstate operation. Investigations revealed ties to criminal groups, as he is the son of a former collaborator of a national criminal organization. His sentence was reduced due to procedural benefits, allowing his recent release.
The Morelos State General Prosecutor's Office is investigating possible score-settling linked to his criminal background or prison rivalries.
