He explained that the conjunction at the end of Ramadan occurs on Thursday, March 19, 2026, with the crescent moon's height reaching 05 degrees 12 arcminutes, forming the basis of the calculation. Earlier, the pesantren had determined the start of Ramadan 1447 H on February 19, 2026, using its established falakiyah calendar system. Gus Mahsus, a teacher there, highlighted the calendar's importance as many community members inquire about Eid al-Fitr timing. In contrast, Pesantren Lirboyo in Kediri, via K.H. Abdul Muid Shohib, affirmed adherence to established fiqh, relying on calculation and sighting, aligned with the government's isbat session. Gus Muid described the isbat decision as the primary guide to resolve differences among Muslims, per the fiqh principle 'hukmul hakim yarfa‘ul khilaf'. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will hold the isbat session on March 19, 2026, at 4:00 PM WIB in Jakarta to confirm the holiday.
