On World AIDS Day, PhilHealth announced enhancements to its outpatient HIV/AIDS treatment package. The state health insurer stated that it offers an annual benefit of P58,500, covering antiretroviral therapy and all necessary services for effective HIV management.

Patients can access the package at 234 accredited HIV treatment hubs across the country. In 2024, PhilHealth disbursed P1.66 billion for 176,819 benefit claims.

Amid rising HIV cases, particularly among young people, PhilHealth president and CEO Erwin Mercado urged parents to 'fully support their children and make them feel they are not alone.' He added, 'There is a future waiting for them through early prevention and regular treatment.'

Authorities reported 5,583 HIV cases from July to September. This initiative aims to provide better support for those affected, improving access to essential medical care.
