PM Modi arrives in Netherlands to strengthen trade ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the Netherlands for a two-day visit focused on trade, technology, defence and clean energy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Amsterdam after concluding his trip to the United Arab Emirates. The visit, which runs from May 15 to 17, marks his second trip to the Netherlands since 2017.

Modi stated that the visit aims to strengthen trade and investment relations, particularly following the free trade agreement between India and the European Union. He highlighted opportunities in semiconductors, water and clean energy.

During the trip, Modi will meet Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. He will also address the Indian community and meet Dutch business leaders.

Bilateral trade reached USD 27.8 billion in 2024-25, with the Netherlands serving as India's fourth-largest investor through USD 55.6 billion in cumulative foreign direct investment. Over 90,000 non-resident Indians and persons of Indian origin live in the country.
