The Nigeria Police Force unsealed the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat at Wadata Plaza in Abuja and Legacy House in Maitama on Saturday, handing control to National Chairman Hon. Abdulrahman Takushara and National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu in compliance with court orders. The action marks a victory for the Nyesom Wike-aligned faction amid ongoing internal disputes.

The Nigeria Police Force carried out the unsealing on April 11, 2026, ending a standoff over the PDP headquarters. This followed a Court of Appeal ruling on March 9 that favored the Wike-backed camp, invalidating a November 16 Ibadan convention endorsed by some governors.

PDP National Publicity Secretary Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed confirmed the handover in a statement. “The Party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, as well as Legacy House, Maitama, have been unsealed by the Nigeria Police Force and handed over to the National Chairman, and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, in full compliance with duly issued court orders,” he said. The party commended the police for professionalism and adherence to the rule of law, while warning against any acts causing obstruction or breach of peace.

The statement urged aggrieved members to unite, acknowledging the support of National Leader Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. “This positive development reassures members that the recent challenges confronting the Party have been effectively resolved," Jungudo added.

However, the Tanimu Turaki-led faction criticized the police action as “state-sponsored persecution” and partisan. National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong said the force had acted in support of “Wike-backed APC apologists.” The group plans legal steps and called on members to maintain peace.
