Post Malone honored Oliver Tree at his concert in Toronto on June 16, dedicating the show to the artist who died in a helicopter crash two days earlier.
Post Malone performed at Rogers Stadium and dedicated the evening to Tree, describing it as a celebration of the life of an absolutely beautiful man. The 32-year-old artist, born Oliver Tree Nickell and known for songs such as Life Goes On and Alien Boy, was among six people killed when two helicopters collided in Rio de Janeiro on June 14.
Malone told the crowd that Tree was a gentleman he knew who inspired the world with his art. He poured out a beer on stage while addressing the sky and saying the group loved him very much.
Other musicians also shared tributes. Melanie Martinez, who dated Tree from 2019 to 2020, posted on Instagram about the difficulty of losing someone from a formative time. Kid Cudi wrote on X that the news was heartbreaking after speaking with Tree recently.
Tree's girlfriend Fiona Chernavskaya posted on Instagram that the magic and joy he brought would never be forgotten. His final album Love You Madly Hate You Badly was released independently in April.
