Premeditated Productions extends Amazon MGM Studios deal by five years

Premeditated Productions has extended its first-look film and television deal with Amazon MGM Studios by five years, just one year after it began. The extension will run through the summer of 2032. The company, co-founded by Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark, has already set up over a dozen projects based on Entangled Publishing's book catalog.

Premeditated Productions, launched in 2024 as an extension of Entangled Publishing, entered into a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios approximately one year ago. The agreement, which covers film and television development, has now been extended for five more years, securing the partnership until the summer of 2032.

Co-founded by Entangled Publishing CEO Liz Pelletier and producer Sherryl Clark—known for projects like The Gorge and Cloverfield—the company draws from Entangled's extensive book catalog to adapt stories for screen. Since the deal's inception, Premeditated has established more than a dozen projects at Amazon MGM Studios. These include feature adaptations of New York Times bestsellers such as Shield of Sparrows, Dragon Cursed, and A Stage Set for Villains, as well as the rom-com 69 Million Things I Hate About You and the teen time-travel comedy Repeat After Me. Additionally, screenwriter Ian Levy’s thriller pitch Survive is in development with Premeditated producing.

On the television side, projects include Jennifer L. Armentrout’s paranormal fantasy series Lux and Nisha J. Tuli’s upcoming Storm Breaker. Premeditated is also producing the adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing, a New York Times bestseller published by Entangled, in collaboration with Outlier Society and Kilter Films; Meredith Averill is set to showrun the series. Another TV project in development is Liz Tomforde’s Windy City series, which has garnered over 25.4 million reads.

Beyond existing titles, Premeditated is developing film and television projects based on forthcoming books from Entangled, working concurrently with Amazon MGM Studios.

Lauren O’Connor, Head of Global IP Acquisitions at Amazon MGM Studios, stated, “Liz and Sherryl have built a remarkable pipeline of stories that blend creativity, innovation, vision, and a deep instinct for what resonates with audiences. Collaborating with the team at Premeditated Productions has been a true pleasure, and we’re thrilled to extend our partnership as they continue to bring Entangled’s incredible library and original ideas to life across film and television for global audiences.”

Liz Pelletier commented, “One of the most exciting parts of this collaboration is what it means for the worlds our authors create. These stories were built to resonate globally, and Amazon MGM has the reach and commitment to help them do exactly that. We’re proud to bring our authors opportunities that extend far beyond the page while protecting the integrity of the stories that made them beloved in the first place.”

Sherryl Clark added, “From day one, Amazon MGM Studios has approached our slate with real ambition. There’s a shared commitment to building bold, commercial stories for a global audience. With Mike Hopkin’s leadership and strong alignment across film and television under Courtenay Valenti and Peter Friedlander, this partnership gives us the ability to think long-term and build enduring franchises with broad, commercial appeal.”

Outside of Amazon MGM, Premeditated has projects with Legendary Entertainment, MGM Television, NBCUniversal, and 20th Century Studios. The team includes SVP of TV Julie Jarmon, Director of Development Cayla Tyne, and Creative Executive Trip George. The company is represented by Independent Artist Group and Caitlin DiMotta at TroyGould PC.
