President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the operationalization of 1,061 Red-White Village and Neighborhood Cooperatives in Nganjuk District, East Java, last Saturday. Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian accompanied the president at the event.
President Prabowo Subianto pressed a siren button to launch the program in front of several high-ranking officials. The event took place in Nganjuk District and was attended by Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono, the TNI Commander, and the National Police Chief.
A total of 530 cooperatives operate in East Java spread across seven districts. Meanwhile, 531 other units are distributed across eight districts and cities in Central Java.
Before the inauguration, the president inspected services at Nglawak Village Cooperative in Kertosono Subdistrict. The program seeks to accelerate village economies by providing affordable basic goods and low-interest credit.
Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian had previously issued several regulations to support the formation and physical development of these cooperatives.
