Puente Grande judge resigns due to health problems

Adrián Guadalupe Aguirre Hernández resigned from his position as a judge at the Federal Justice Center in Puente Grande, Jalisco, just two months after taking office. The resignation was due to health issues, as stated in his letter, and was accepted by the Senate without debating the causes. His successor will be chosen from previously elected candidates.

Adrián Guadalupe Aguirre Hernández took office as a control judge at the Federal Justice Center in Puente Grande, Jalisco, after being elected with 36,084 votes in judicial circuit three and district two. However, just two months later, he submitted his irrevocable resignation, citing health problems without specifying them.

The Senate's Justice Commission, chaired by Senator Javier Corral, prepared a ruling that reviewed the request. According to the document accessed by Milenio, current legislation does not require debating or exposing the existence of serious causes to accept a judge's resignation, as long as it is justified, which was deemed met here. The Senate approved the resignation without further proceedings.

For the replacement, the ruling states that the position goes to the second-place candidate of the same gender with the highest votes. Joseph Olid Aranda received 27,797 votes and will take the role. This resignation takes place amid Mexico's recent judicial reform, which introduced elections for judges and magistrates.

Journalist Arturo Ángel, specializing in justice issues, reported the case, noting the brevity of Aguirre Hernández's tenure.
