Remedy announces Control Resonant sequel for 2026

Remedy Entertainment has revealed Control Resonant, the sequel to its acclaimed action-adventure game Control, featuring Jesse Faden's brother Dylan as the protagonist. Set in a reality-warping Manhattan, the game introduces new supernatural threats and a shapeshifting melee weapon. It is slated for release in 2026 across multiple platforms.

Announcement Details

Remedy Entertainment unveiled Control Resonant during a recent trailer reveal, confirming it as the official sequel to the 2019 hit Control. The game shifts the focus to Dylan Faden, Jesse's brother, who was previously confined by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). After years in captivity, Dylan is deployed to combat a cosmic entity altering reality in Manhattan, a city twisted into a surreal hellscape with elements like kaleidoscopic pigeons and paranatural beings.

"After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden's former captors are deploying him at the peak of a supernatural crisis," states the official description. "Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his new found powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan."

Dylan wields the Aberrant, a mammoth shapeshifting melee weapon, differing from Jesse's Service Weapon in the original game. The story involves Dylan seeking out his sister, now FBC Director Jesse Faden, while unlocking his supernatural abilities to contain threats spilling from the Oldest House.

Gameplay and Accessibility

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen described Control Resonant as an "expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence." He emphasized its accessibility: "We've made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down. We're pushing the scale beyond anything we've done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience. It's ambitious, a little wild, and we can't wait for players to get lost in it."

No prior experience with Control is required, broadening its appeal. The game promises enhanced combat and exploration in a larger world.

Release Information

Control Resonant is scheduled for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store. The announcement trailer showcases the warped Manhattan setting and Dylan's abilities, building anticipation for Remedy's signature mind-bending narrative.
