Ross Whyte and Fay Henderson to debut at world curling championships

Ross Whyte and Fay Henderson will make their debuts at the World Curling Championships after each securing three successive Scottish titles. Whyte's team will represent Scotland in the men's event in Ogden, USA, while Henderson's team competes in the women's event in Calgary, Canada. Scotland enters as the defending men's champions.

Ross Whyte and Fay Henderson are set to represent Scotland at the World Curling Championships, marking their first appearances at the senior level event. Having each won three consecutive Scottish championships, the skippers earned their spots after the defending Olympic representatives, Bruce Mouat and Rebecca Morrison, opted not to participate in the national qualifiers.

Whyte, currently ranked fourth in the world, leads a team comprising Robin Brydone, Craig Waddell, Euan Kyle, and alternate Duncan McFadzean. They will compete in Ogden, Utah, USA, from March 27 to April 4, 2026. "We have waited for this chance for a number of years and that only makes us all the more proud to get to defend the title for Scotland," Whyte said. He added, "We have demonstrated with our Grand Slam wins in Canada in each of the last two seasons that we can beat the world's best and we will head over there full of confidence in our capacity to deliver for Scotland."

For the women's side, Henderson, a former world junior champion and recent alternate on the Olympic team, skips a rink that includes 2022 Olympic gold medallist Hailey Duff, along with Lisa Davie, Katie McMillan, and alternate Laura Watt. The team heads to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, for the event from March 14 to 22, 2026. "This has been a big goal that we've been so close to over the last few years so we are really excited to see what we can achieve," Henderson stated.

Scottish Curling chief executive Vincent Bryson praised both squads, noting they have "shown remarkable consistency and determination to earn their opportunity on the world stage" and expressing confidence that they will "showcase the depth of talent" in Scottish curling.
